Turkish middle school students observe stages of the full solar eclipse in the Mediterranean city of Side Turkey, Wednesday March 29 2006. The total eclipse was visible in a narrow band from Brazil across the Atlantic to Northern Mongolia. In a total eclipse, the entire sun is blocked by the moon, creating a massive shadow on Earth. The next total solar eclipse will be visible from Canada to northern China on August 1 2008. The next total solar eclipse visible from the U.S. will be August 21, 2017.
